Grilled Lemonade

While I haven’t grilled it all, I’ve grilled a lot of it.

The standards: Beef, pork, chicken, vegetables

The next level: Fish, shrimp, turkey, pineapple, pears

A little more unusual: rabbit, avocados, romaine lettuce leaves

Now I have grilled a beverage. Lemonade to be exact. Well, technically I’ve grilled the lemons and some sugar, but hey, it counts.

Once grilled, prepare to juice them.

The heat will really allow the juice to flow. This is all lemon juice. I think in the future, I’d add a few more lemons to add more tartness to the drink.

With the sugar syrup and a little ice.

Delicious and refreshing!

Grilled Lemonade

Ingredients:

8 lemons (halved)
1 1/2 cups sugar (divided)
1 3/4 cups water
pinch of salt
ice

Directions:

To make a pitcher, dip the cut sides of 16 halved lemons in sugar and grill until marked, about 5 minutes; let cool. Simmer 1 1/4 cups sugar with 1 3/4 cups water and a pinch of salt until dissolved; let cool. Squeeze the lemons through a strainer into a pitcher; stir in the sugar syrup, some ice and a few of the grilled lemons.

We (Indians) make one by charring raw mangoes on stove top. It’s called “Aam Pora Sharbat”. Aam= mango, pora=burnt, sherbet=drink. A burnt mango drink.
    Yours look delicious!
