Over time, I’ve noticed my preference for salad dressings has changed.
I recall as a younger child, my choices were often very limited. I recall Italian, French, oil and vinegar and Thousand Island. Back then, French was my choice. As I moved into pre-teen and later, Ranch hit the roof in popularity and like the rest of the country, it became my favorite. After being “ranched-out”, I moved into its higher class cousin, Blue Cheese. I’d have to say that is still my favorite, but I have come to appreciate all of the others. Not much beats a really goof Italian, but unfortunately there are very few great Italian dressings. Thousand Island? I really cannot fathom putting it on a salad, but in a Reuben? Yummmmm!
The Ranting Wife has a different list of her favorites. At home, it is a sesame-ginger. In restaurants, when asked what dressing she wants her first response is poppy seed followed by sweet and sour or raspberry vinaigrette. Having received the Shake ‘n Pour Salad Dressing Mixer from Zyliss, I knew I had to make a dressing I hadn’t made before, so I looked for a raspberry vinaigrette recipe.
This recipe also came with a salad suggestion. The dressing was a bit sweet (as you’d expect from the ingredients) but was good and very easy to make.
One…two…three…done. Yup. That is red raspberry “simply fruit”.
Looks beautiful, no?
The red is such a nice contrast to the green, brown and white in the salad.
Delicious!

Sounds pretty easy! I can’t recall the last time I actually made a dressing. I use the ultra simple method of put greens etc in bowl, add oil, vinegar (my go to is cider, but I use others too) and a seasoning call Herbamare, toss and go, but I may try this next time I have guests.
