A Big Bowl of Candy

I bribe visitors to come see me at work. How do I do it? Candy.

Some people have a small candy dish at their desk. Not me. I have a bowl. Not a little one mind you, but one that can hold a large bag of candy.

I have one rule for the candy that I put in it: it has to be something that generally won’t tempt me. Chocolate is out. Most other things will work though. I have a general rotation of what makes it into the bowl (based on my purchase of 5 lb bags of candy at my local warehouse club). First is a Tootsie Roll mix. This includes big and small Tootsie Rolls, flavored Tootsie Rolls, dots and Tootsie Roll Pops. When that runs out, it is time for the Jolly Ranchers. After that, Starbursts. Occasionally I’ll add in some others but those are my old standbys.

I like having the bowl as people who wouldn’t normally walk by stop in. Conversations are quick and candy is taken and the day moves on.

While not candy, this is certainly colorful like candy. These veggie kabobs were fantastic.

For the first time I used Brussels Sprouts on my kabobs. They were great.

I also used mini sweet peppers. I only had to cut off their tops and they were perfect.

I strung the kabobs on my Firewire Grilling Skewers and put them in a bag to marinade with some Italian dressing. Grill for 15 minutes over medium and eat!
