The Ranting Reviewer does not get paid or receive any revenue from manufacturers or retailers of products reviewed. I occasionally receive products that I am asked to use and see what I think. I take a look, try them out and tell you all about them.
Recently I was able to spend some time at the International Home and Housewares Show talking to the folks at Whiskware. Originally started as Blender Bottle, the company is expanding their line beyond shaker bottles into other kitchen uses. Let’s take a look.
Today we have the Whiskware Dressing Shaker.
The Dressing Shaker is a glass container designed to help you create, store and dispense your own dressings. Many oil based dressings are great and full of flavor, but they separate so quickly. You have to constantly stir them. If you shake them up, big globs of oil or other ingredients often persist. Whiskware has a fix to that.
The lid is very simple. One button, when depressed, opens up the spout. Let go of the button and the spout closes on its own. This helps keep both your dressing fresh but reduces spills.
The spout opens wide.
Let’s try it out. I make this fantastic pasta salad with a killer dressing. It separates, though. See the metal ball in the bottom of the Dressing Shaker? The non-reactive metal ball works like a whisk inside the bottle.
All the ingredients (and the ball) have been put into the bottle. See the separation? Time to put the lid on and shake.
One good shake and it is all mixed. Yes, the ingredients will separate again over time, but by leaving the ball inside you give it a shake right before you dispense the next time.
Time for a pour.
My Take: While there are a dozen or more salad dressing bottles on the market, many don’t really keep the dressing ingredients well integrated. The Whiskware Dressing Shaker does that really well. The non-reactive glass bottle and metal ball work together to help you make the dressing that you want, getting the full flavor of all the ingredients. The tight-fitting lid and easy pour spout allows you to get dressing when you want and keeps spills from happening. I’d easily recommend this to any home cook that wants a little more control of the ingredients in their dressing. You can purchase soon it at Whiskware.com and Bed Bath and Beyond.
