The Ranting Reviewer does not get paid or receive any revenue from manufacturers or retailers of products reviewed. I occasionally receive products that I am asked to use and see what I think. I take a look, try them out and tell you all about them.
Today I will be looking at one of the newer products in the Black + Decker kitchen line.
Introducing the Black + Decker Cafe Select Dual Brew Coffeemaker with Travel Mug. This is designed to be a complete system for your coffee and hot beverage needs.
The “dual” in Dual Brew refers to the ability for this one coffeemaker to both make a pot of drip coffee as well as make coffee using a Keurig® style K-cup.*
If you have a favorite coffee that doesn’t come in a K-Cup, or if you are concerned about the plastic waste, the Cafe Select Dual Brew Coffeemaker comes with a mini basket that you can fill with ground coffee for single serve coffee.
The included stainless steel travel mug fits in the brewer and has a locking lid. You unlock it by pushing down and lock it again by doing the same.
The 60 oz water reservoir feeds both the single serve and the multi-serve carafe side.
It has a 12 coffee cup capacity, is easy to remove and includes a lid that easily comes off if you want to fill it in place.
The single serve side has a platform that moves up and down. You want to match it to the size of your cup so as the coffee drops in it won’t splash. Here it is in the highest position for a standard mug or smaller.
This is the big ‘ole mug I like to drink from.
One of my other travel mugs.
And finally the large 20 oz vacuum insulated travel mug.
Let’s give it a try. This combination is perfect for when you want a pot of regular and a cup of decaf.
Or coffee and tea. I have found that I like to use the K-cup side during the week for a cup on the go and the pot for the weekend when my day starts a little slower.
When making a pot you can choose between regular and “robusto”. When you want your coffee a little stronger, choose the second option.
The carafe side makes coffee at the speed of most coffee makers.
Time to make something on the single serve side.
Not his side you have six options for size: 6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 16oz and 20oz.
I noticed the single serve side does take a little longer than my previous single serve machine but it was still pretty quick. If you make one of the larger two sizes, it will heat, dispense, heat some more and then dispense a second time.
The carafe side has a basket to easily remove the filter and used coffee grounds.
And the large travel mug fits in my Jeep!
My Take: I love the Black + Decker Cafe Select Dual Brew Coffeemaker with Travel Mug. Years ago when I removed my drip coffee maker to free up valuable counter space for a single serve maker, I found that I missed having that carafe more than I thought I would. Having people over? It is so much easier to have a pot ready. Want a really large coffee? My old single serve maker really didn’t give me that. The Cafe Select Dual Brew Coffeemaker does. Some of the most valuable real estate in the world is your kitchen counter. Maximize your space by having a coffee maker that can really serve all your hot beverage needs. You can find the lack + Decker Cafe Select Dual Brew Coffeemaker with Travel Mug at all your major retailers and dot com sites (like Amazon).
