The Ranting Reviewer does not get paid or receive any revenue from manufacturers or retailers of products reviewed. I occasionally receive products that I am asked to use and see what I think. I take a look, try them out and tell you all about them.
I’ve previously reviewed an Empanada Maker from Holstein Housewares and found it to be pretty cool. I was excited to give another of their products a try.
A creator of products that help you create good desserts and snacks, Holstein Housewares has an option for healthy snacking: air popped popcorn.
Eliminating the oil that some popcorn makers require, the Hot Air Popcorn Maker produces a healthy snack in just minutes. Sure, microwave popcorn is quick, but there are also all sorts of chemicals put into that pack. The Hot Air Popcorn Maker requires only popcorn kernels.
Containing the popping unit, a clear top and a measuring spoon (which also serves to cap off the lid), there are only a few pieces, so you don’t need much storage space.
Time to put it to work. I have it plugged in and a bowl ready.
Using the scoop. The instructions warn you not to over-fill the popper. This really full scoop was a little too much.
Kernels are in the popper and ready to heat.
The popping has started.
Here is where the overfilling comes in. Too many kernels cause some unpopped kernels to go flying.
You can see a few escaping now.
The popcorn is hot and delicious!
Let’s try this with fewer kernels.
My take: Whether you like your air popped popcorn without anything on it (healthiest) or with some seasoning and spray butter, the Holstein Housewares Hot Air Popcorn Maker works great. Creating a nice snack in minutes that satisfies, this is a perfect gift for teens, college students and families. It is available in red or teal and you can purchase the Hot Air Popcorn Maker at many stores and online (including here).
we use a glass microwave container – and order gourmet popcorn from various places around the country, usually it’s family farm grown in places like Iowa or Nebraska – makes for a fun feast.

It is the worst popcorn maker I have ever used. The internal thermostat turns it off after popping only a few kernels. And the outlet isn’t designed to direct the popped kernels effectively.
