Product Review: Anolon Vesta 5 Quart Round Casserole

In a previous review, I had the opportunity to take a look at a cast iron braiser from Anolon and found it to be great. I was so happy to take at look at their latest pot, the Anolon Vesta 5 Quart Round Casserole.

Available in both a cobalt blue (shown here) and paprika red, the Anolon Vesta Cast Iron 5 Quart Round Casserole is a hefty piece of cooking equipment.

Made of cast iron, the 5 Quart Round Casserole is great at absorbing and maintaining a steady heat. The cooking material of choice for many professional chefs, cast iron gives you the best sear and the most even heat of any material.

The interior is a stain-resistant black enamel coating.

The outside is a beautiful cobalt blue that looks great on the table. Let’s put it to work.

Searing meat is where a cast iron pot is king. Here I have some pork medallions getting a nice browning.

The deep sides of the 5 Quart Round Casserole allow you to easily mix up some vegetables for a nice casserole or stew.

The pot works well on all cooktops: electric, gas and induction.

With the included lid, it finds a home in the oven as well. Safe up to 500 degrees, it will work for any casserole you may dream up.

My Take: Centuries ago the cast iron pot was the cooking vessel of choice. Dozens of years ago, it still was. Today, nothing has changed, except with the Anolon Vesta 5 Quart Round Casserole, the pot is not only functional but beautiful as well. A well-maintained pot will last a lifetime and can even be passed on to future generations. The cooking is more reliable than other types of pots and gives you the best searing on the market.
