My take: If you spend any time around professional chefs or even prolific home cooks, you will find that everyone has sliced into their fingers multiple times. The Knife Glider is built to keep that from happening to you. It is versatile and easy to store and clean (dishwasher safe). While someone truly experienced with knives may not choose to regularly use it, it is ideal for new cooks and those who are nervous while cutting and chopping. The Knife Glider can be purchased here.
