Just How the Queen Likes It

Throughout most of the history of England/UK and France, the two countries have not had great relations. From 1066 (the Norman invasion of England) to 1814 (Napoleon), the two countries were at war more than 30 times. Hundreds of years were spent fighting each other. While relations have gotten much better  in the last 200 years, there is still a historical sense of bad blood.

All that makes the following statement scandalous in some circles: The Queen drinks Dubonnet, a French fortified wine.

As it looks, she is one of a dying breed, both in the UK and in France. See more on that here. In honor of her birthday (her real birthday, not the months later official celebration), we present the Dubonnet cocktail.

Dubonet Cocktail - Featured SizeFor an English themed Gourmet Club, the hosts dug out this bit about the queen and made the cocktail just how the queen like it.

I think she is old enough to decide to drink what she wants. Now, if the French would just restore their Monarchy, so they could have some gin drink that their Royal and/or Imperial Family prefers, it would be eternal peace & all would be right with the world! Thank you for a splendid share/post/blog & Long Live Her Majesty, The Queen!
