The Pitfalls of the Barbecue Life

A couple of years ago, I heard that Texas Monthly magazine hired the country’s first-ever barbecue editor. This lucky guy makes his living driving around the state of Texas, eating barbecue, and writing a few words. Um….(hand raised)….me…ME….ME!!!!! Yeah, I could live that life.

In a recent story, Daniel Vaughn, the lucky guy, talks both about how he created the role in the first place and what his life is really like. I never really thought about the potential downsides of the life: high cholesterol and too many left-overs being two of them. As barbecue in Texas is more religion than cuisine, he tells of days where he eats at ten or more barbecue places IN THE SAME DAY! Check out the article here.
