Gliding Down My Throat

Many of us throw out quite a bit of food that in the somewhat near future we don’t have to.

Foods have different viscosities, or the rates that they flow across surfaces. Water or orange juice? It flows pretty fast, so it is quite viscous. Peanut butter? Not so much. Those less viscous foods become a problem with packaging.

When you are down to the dregs in a bottle or jar it often becomes quite an effort to save the last teaspoon of product by scraping all the sides and bottom of a jar or bottle. In some cases, like ketchup, you cannot easily get to all of the sides. Ultimately the jar or bottle is placed in recycling or the trash with useable food stuck inside.

Engineers from MIT have developed LiquiGlide – a coating that is food safe and allows food to not stick to the inside of the bottle. While originally developed for automotive purposes, it has received quite a bit of acclaim for how it makes ketchup slide right out. The videos are pretty amazing.

While this recipe is non-viscous, it certainly slides down my throat pretty well!

The celery made it out of the fridge but must have been too shy to make the photo.

Even with sawing off the other end of the Miracle Whip jar, there is still quite a bit that stuck to the sides.

Ha! This would NOT go down my throat. The Miracle Whip would cause a gag reflex and it just wouldn’t go! I do like the thought of using mayo and milk instead of a canned soup . . . so I am going to try this — with mayo instead of the other stuff. Ohhh. Thanks for this. I’ve already adapted in my head for my family’s taste!!!!!!! I love easy stuff like this!!!!
