    • March 29, 2012 at 8:45 pm #

A good number of the low carb recipes in the Recipes: Diet tab here on the blog would be appropriate for a diabetic. For picky eaters, I really try to start with the familiar and try to work in one substitution or added ingredient. That way it is only one new item surrounded by comforting items. Eventually once they are used to the new item, add another. It is a great way to grow the palate.

Glad you liked my recipe. While I mainly post other “stuff”, I plan to post food at least once a week. I love to cook somewhat unusual combinations. When I rant–which is perhaps too often–it usually is not about food. I am particularly interested in good vegetarian recipes since I have veggie friends I cook for so I just invent for them.

Thank you so much for the “like” on my blog about my Arctic adventure. I have no idea what we’ll eat there but now I think I need to find out (I’m not really into seal but it does have a lot of vitamin C, so I guess if scurvy’s an issue…. Actually, I think I’ll just bring along some vitamins.)

Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your recipes. Thanks again for finding me!

I was really pleasantly surprised to see that you’d visited my blog, and that you liked it. That’s high praise, and I appreciate it. If you have any recipes for my “primal diet” using coconut and almond flour, and new recipes for chicken or fish, I hope you’ll be posting them here. I’ll be following. My cousin’s husband has been an amateur chef for years, and when he retired last year he went to a local community college and took culinary arts. Now he gets to work in the kitchen a the local university, and maybe some other professional kitchens. I think he’ll like this site so I’ll pass it on.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I like what you have going on here. I like to cook, I hate to cook. I like looking at recipes and dreaming about making them, but I never make most of them. I have a hard time following a recipe exactly. I am an okay cook and some of what I make is excellent. I get bored. I love food.
You have a great blog. You stopped over to mine over a week ago, but I am slow catching up lately.

    Hi Pat,

I found your blog today thru WordPress, I’m from SlimKicker (a healthy living/fitness app), and was wondering if we can do a giveaway for your blog readers?

Our site basically turns people’s health/fitness goals into a level up game with challenges such as quitting soda for a week. We’re looking for new challenge ideas, so was thinking of holding a contest where your readers leave a comment on a health challenge idea, and we’ll pick our favorite challenge idea, use it on our site, and give the winner either a free digital health scale, slow cooker, or digital heart monitor.

Let me know if you’re interested by email: sue (at) slimkicker.com

PS. You can choose not to publish this comment since it’s not really a comment, I just couldn’t find your email address =)

    Best,

If you are not a vegetarian, just put some sausage, pepperoni, or steak on it, or all of them. My specialty is pies. Check in on Friday and I will have my compass pie. It is a pretty basic blueberry pie, it will just look like a compass. It is for our monthly Search and Rescue meeting, hence the compass.

I use recipes as guidelines. I’ve got a great deal on some beef the other day so I’ve got stew in the crock pot, and chili on the stove. Already froze various meat balls, burgers, a mini meat loaf and portioned stir fry.

    Dear WordPress Follower,

Thanks for recently liking one of my posts on SharingMom.com. I just wanted to let you know that in the near future, I will not be showing up on your WordPress Reader Feed or on Freshly Pressed. I would like to add plug-ins to my blog to make the site more user friendly and in order to do that WordPress requires that I host the blog elsewhere. The bummer is that once I change hosts I will no longer show up on your WordPress feeds.

Since I have written articles and posted recipes that you have liked, I would be honored to have you subscribe to the blog so I don’t lose touch with you once I make the change. That way you won’t miss the great info and recipes that are scheduled to post in the coming weeks.

I am also working on a free e-book with 10 gluten-free, dairy-free snacks and desserts. When it is ready to go live, I will post it on the site. As a subscriber, you’ll be the first to know!

Thanks for joining me. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

It’s funny my eldest boy doesn’t like zucchini or squash either…and I tend to cook it exactly like you (foil packet/grill)…and I have the same eating philosophy with my boys at least one bite of mommy’s nonstandard fare and the entire serving of standard fare, if they want treat…coincidence?, I think not. I believe I have a vegetable pasta recipe to try. Thanks again!

hey Chef! Need your advise…baked mini cheesecakes in small cupcake pans – I swear – followed the directions carefully – problem was that despite refrigeration ( after cooling completely the crust and adding filling) – they never got really firm- what might I need to do better??

    • March 18, 2015 at 7:07 pm #

Hmmm. Sounds like it is not cooking long enough. After the cooking time is done, you could turn off the oven, crack the door and leave them in there for more time. I’d try 20 min. Check them by inserting a toothpick in the center and it should come out clean.

If these are no bake cheesecakes, are you using any gelatin? That can help.

      Like

      • March 18, 2015 at 8:59 pm #

No gelatin, standard ingredients – just a really small version of a cake – will bake longer next time – have to admit I have a history of burning things and might have been too cautious about not exceeding the “official time” to remove them. Thanks for your help!
