The most popular (and colorful) line of dinnerware in the United States is the Fiesta brand from Homer Laughlin. The line is so revered and popular that there are collecting clubs for individuals to show off all the pieces they have. Right now I bet I have something even they don’t….
Introducing the color of the year for the Fiesta line – Claret.
Shown in the Fiesta 3 Piece Bistro Set (above), Claret is a rich deep red hue with slightly purplish undertones. As Fiesta only has 15 active colors at any given time, the color Plum (first introduced in 2001) is being retired.
Having a variety of Fiesta colors, I’ve written in the past about how the color of the dish is an important part of how tasty the food looks. Some combinations highlight the food while others detract. And whether you believe it or not, food that looks better to the eye, tastes better to the tongue.
This continues to be true with the latest color, Claret.
The lighter colors of the food jump out.
Some Greek yogurt and bananas? Claret is a great contrasting color.
A little lunch?
My Take: Homer Laughlin continues to bring exciting new colors to the Fiesta line. Want to make the dish you’ve slaved on all day to really stand out? Find the right color dish to put it on. The Claret color is available starting today for pre-sale online here and will be available in all the best stores starting in June.
Gorgeous color. Love how the lighter colors pop!
